FLOWER CITY PICKERS HAS MOVED INTO A NEW HOME TO HELP US FIGHT FOOD WASTE IN OUR COMMUNITY!

Since 2015, Flower City Pickers has been on a mission to fight food waste by recovering and distributing otherwise landfill-bound food to community groups that can use produce.

We are truly blessed at the outpouring of support by the community and its never-ending flow of eager volunteers. We cannot do this without you. Volunteers are our lifeblood. To this end, FCP determined that we needed a warmer, safer place for our volunteers to do the work of collecting, sorting, and distributing the unsold produce from the Rochester Public Market.

With the help of grants from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the United Way Community Crisis Fund, and the Genesee Brewery (FIFCO), we were able to secure a permanent structure to house our operations. This enormous undertaking has been a two-year endeavor, and we can finally call the Public Market our home. The City of Rochester has generously allowed us to occupy space at the Public Market and we are truly grateful. The Market Staff- Jim, Kelly, Cindy and Rob have all been amazing to work with, and we can’t wait to show off our new and improved operation.
